ARDEX Americas Wins Award for Outstanding Commitment to Employee Education and Development for the Second Consecutive Year
Aliquippa, PA, April 24, 2018 – ARDEX Americas won the Engaging Pittsburgh Innovative People Practices award for the second consecutive year. The category was Innovation in Learning and Development. The award was presented by the Pittsburgh Human Resource Association (PHRA), a local organization dedicated to the advancement of the human resource professional, with the goal to maintain a vibrant, regional workforce. The annual event recognizes Pittsburgh employers demonstrating creative business practices that enhance organizational and employee achievements.

TCF West: A Solid Spin on ARDEX PC-T
Michael Rosenblat, Owner of TCF West Inc. and his team recently completed a stunning, polished white PCT floor with terrazzo stone aggregate in the new head office of Republic Architecture in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. In preparation for the new floor, the subfloor was prepped by diamond grinding and then extensively repaired. Zinc strips were affixed in the specified design. Rosenblat has over 20 years of experience in concrete construction and relied upon his expertise to mix, place and finish the PC-T and aggregate in order to be suitable for polishing the next day. TCF West used a combination of traditional terrazzo and concrete placing techniques to achieve the desired result.
Rosenblat explains the greatest challenge of the install, “The sheer size of the terrazzo stone aggregate made the product difficult to get screeded to a consistent height. It required more than the usual ‘old school’ hand and knee work.”
Polishing began just 24 hours after the pour, and was brought up to an 800-grit shine. There were a few characteristics of the ARDEX materials that Rosenblat found advantageous in this install, “The high strength gain, with no shrinkage cracking, was critical in order to polish the next day after the pours.” He added, “The fact that the floor hardly required the grout coat was impressive.”

Aliquippa, PA (January 24, 2017) – ARDEX Americas celebrates 40 years of innovation in 2018, and kicking off the celebration is our first new product announcement, ARDEX S 1-K™ One-Component Waterproofing and Crack Isolation Membrane.
ARDEX S 1-K is a single-component topside waterproofing compound that is extremely easy to use and produces a flexible waterproof coating perfect for use in showers, bathrooms and other wet areas. Recommended for use over a wide range of substrates and finishes, the highly workable consistency minimizes drips and splatters.

Trash Talk: ARDEX Making Big Strides in Recycling
This summer ARDEX Americas’ Dallas, Georgia, plant rolled out an innovative recycling initiative that will effectively eliminate a large portion of waste produced the facility. Michael Deppa, Plant Engineer, spearheaded the effort with the help of Tim Blanchett, Plant Manager.
Michael explains, “Essentially nothing used to produce our products will end up in a landfill – things like cardboard, stretch film and plastic pails.”
The Dallas plant partnered with a local, well-established, industrial recycling company to recycle the material. Designated plant areas were assigned for each type of material, and employees in each department were individually trained to use, empty and maintain the areas.
“It does require a little bit of coordination to set this up and keep it working,” Deppa said. “Our challenge now is to maintain and motivate everyone to continue the processes we’ve set up.”
